Challenge
Knowledge in silos and manual processes
“Previously, the right knowledge about, for example, safety measures could remain within one factory without being shared with the others,” says Jens Roth, Quality, Health and Safety Manager. “This meant we risked repeating mistakes, or that the best solutions were not implemented across all sites.”
In addition, workflows around issues such as complaints and observations were manual and time-consuming. It was difficult to ensure structured and consistent data and follow-up across the six factories.
One shared system for structure, knowledge, and development
With D4InfoNet, BEWI Denmark has gained a common digital foundation for quality management, occupational health and safety, environment, and project management. Today, the platform is used by 87 employees in Denmark.
“D4InfoNet has become our shared structure for knowledge sharing. When one factory finds a good solution, the others can quickly adopt it,” says Bent Kolby, HSEQ Coordinator.
The platform supports both strategic and operational tasks. From documentation and risk assessments to observations, audits, and complaints. In addition, BEWI Denmark develops its own solutions within the platform.

Result
Fewer accidents, improved workflows, and a stronger safety culture
The implementation of D4InfoNet has had a significant effect – especially in the area of occupational health and safety, where the number of workplace accidents has been reduced from 16–19 per year to only two in the past year. This is primarily due to the systematic registration and analysis of observations.
“We work in a focused way with risk behaviour and operate with categories such as accidents, incidents, near misses, and observations. Every employee must register at least two observations a year, and we have a shared target of 500 observations annually. This gives us a solid data foundation for prevention and for taking quick action,” explains Jens Roth.
“Many observations relate to behaviour, such as unsafe handling of equipment or obstructions in walkways – and this is precisely where habits and attitudes can be difficult to change. That is why visibility and ownership are key drivers in the effort.”
Collaboration across departments has also been strengthened. In close cooperation with the procurement department, Jens and Bent have developed a supplier complaint system in D4InfoNet. Here, supplier errors and deficiencies can be registered immediately. “When the error is documented at the very moment it is discovered, it becomes much easier to follow up and resolve it. This has already proved to be a great success,” says Bent Kolby.

A platform that grows with us
D4InfoNet has become a central tool at BEWI Denmark and is used for an increasing number of purposes as new needs arise. “When we can show our colleagues that the platform makes the work easier, it is also easier to gain support for new initiatives,” says Jens Roth.
“The platform gives us the opportunity to build and adapt solutions ourselves, so that we can digitalise new processes – even if you are not the most experienced IT specialist,” adds Bent Kolby.
